Books

I started to try and find specific books that could help students with dyslexia learn and enjoy reading. The more I thought about it and looked around I came to the conclusion that this probably wasn't something I was going to find. Every student is different and has different interests. I think the most important here, is to know your students. Find out what they are interested in and try to have those kinds of books in your classroom. This applies to all students really, but if a boy with dyslexia in your class loves super heros, find a book in his reading level about super heros. He is much more likely to enjoy reading if the books he is reading are about things he likes. Also, when picking books for your students with dyslexia it is important to know their reading level. Like I said in the last post, it is important not to have them read books above their level but also think they shouldn't only be reading books below either. It is totally fine if they want to read below their level every once in a while for fun but not all the time. This will lead to them getting further and further behind the rest of their classmates. It is a good idea, just like for every other student, to challenge them to help them grow in their education.
